Hi,

I'm looking a serial cable to use an O2 as a console for a Challenge-S.

but the connection is slightly different from what I saw in the Origin200 owner's guide (page# 191).

Does anyone have one for me ?

I actually had a DIN8M connector but it was molded and had only 4 wires :-/

The idea was good, I used cable of an AppleTalk adapter and that one actually had 4 wires + ground ...

As previously said, using a serial console will start you going. Or make sure your 13W3 adapter is the good one (if you have a chance to try replacing it on a working setup, it will let you know if you have the right one). Although the adapter I bought for my first octane was advertised for sgi and sun, I had no luck with it and ended up getting another one.

I hope you will get this sorted soon.

I'm interested in the O2… but I'm afraid the price I would propose for it may make you keep it for yourself… I've such models being given away between members here…

As I said, I'm interested but my offer is very unlikely to go over 10€ for it and you can keep the ram… 20€ if there is the A/V module…

That's source+binary+data, unpack wherever you want. if you want a nekoware package, try finding out why it appears to get the visuals wrong, I think red/green is swapped in the opening/menu, and build a nice Icon with iconsmith...

I don't have the problem with opening menu (O2-180, 6.5.22) and I'm not a graphist… anyone can do an icon to have a nekoware of it?

Hmmm… there is only one auction on eBay UK for Sgi branded items and it's a shirt. Otherwise 99 BIN sales including a £200 R5k/200 O2 and a £570 R4.4k Indigo2

eBay France has more Sgi stuff but expect figures like €100 for an Irix 6.5 CD set or €140 for an external Sgi SCSI DVD drive (ok, this one is new) and just as much for a set of CrystalEyes…

And craigslist is not nearly as furbished in Europe as well

I'm delighted to see such a discussion about wikifying the aggregators. I however have a thought I would like to share, please let me know if it sounds stupid or not…

Instead of having one aggregator for the O2, one for the Fuel, one for the Octane, wouldn't it make more sense to have one for each type of device? If there is a wiki page for compatible let's say DDS drive, it could contain a table listing all the DDS drives tested and a column for each system it was tested on. This would allow to quickly identify if that drive is compatible/not compatible/unknown with such or such workstation.

My points are:
- how likely is it for an O2 compatible DDS drive to also be compatible with a Fuel?
- if I'm looking for a PCI card for my Fuel, maybe it was already tested on an O2 and I don't have to go the O2 aggregator to find if it was compatible

I hope I'm clear… too early in the morning, need more coffee.

He created a page http://www.nekochan.net/wiki/index.php/DVD-ROM_Drives that list the O2 compatible devices. How do I create the same but for the Fuel?

I must say I like recondas idea better (no offense to josehill).

I'd prefer to have a wiki category "Compatible Hardware" and in it, a page per type of device (Firewire cards, Network cards, …) and for each device on the page we can just flag with which system it work…
