A bit of a punch in the stomach, that.

I remember visiting the DEC booth at the very first recruiting fair I attended while still in school. UT Austin. The job fair was held at the Frank Erwin center.

While a student research assistant, I also administered two AlphaServers at UT. They were non-trivial to maintain, but I somehow muddled through. That was my first exposure to CDE.

I recently started reading "DEC is Dead, Long live DEC", but had to put that on hold as I got distracted with other things. Here's the URL if someone else is interested:

Seconded - I've been reading that off and on the last couple months (OpenGL ES 3.0 has taken priority lately), but it's a great read for the personal insights DEC employees gave.

Mine's pretty quiet, since I got rid of that first-gen 10K RPM drive.

indeed i don't run it often enough. when it comes to what to use for certain things the sgis usually win but i promise to do better from now on :P
