3D-RAPIC is a 3D weather radar visualization tool, designed for use by operational and research meteorologists, and the broadcast media (TV). Target markets include meterological organizations, atmospheric research institutes and the broadcast media (TV).
3D-RAPIC provides operators with a number of viewing products which offer interactive viewing controls, as well as movie loop facilities. Extensive database review facilities are also provided. Due to its highly interactive nature, it allows meteorologists to rapidly assess the nature and severity of events captured by weather radar.
The current version is 1.13. Irix 4.0.5 and later are the software prerequisite. The hardware prerequisite are the Silicon Graphics 24bit color with z-buffer, and access to online or archive data in a format as used by the Australian Bureau of Meteorology.
