Vista(tm) creates 2-D digital mosaics of multiple side-scan sonar image swaths in the public-domain Q-MIPS(tm) data format. Navigation data is screened and smoothed, while separate and overlapping sonar image swaths are enhanced, geocoded and merged into an acoustic reflectance image of the seafloor. The completed mosaic can be panned and zoomed to full spatial resolution. Features include heads-up digitizing and hardcopy output to a variety of plotters and printers.
Vista is applied in marine search, salvage and survey operations, geophysical studies, and pipeline and cable route analysis. Vista mosaics are used by Seaflight(tm) software for 3-D perspective flight simulations.
