The Illustra Spatial DataBlade module makes your database an expert at managing spatial information. The Spatial DataBlade is a plug in module that customizes the Illustra Object-Relational Database Management system to store, manage and query spatial data -- points, lines, polygons, and other spatial and location data.
The Spatial DataBlade is available in both 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional versions. A set of over 40 functions is included to allow manipulation and querying of spatial data. A unique access method, R-Trees, provides maximum performance.
With the Spatial DataBlades, expertise in managing spatial or geographic data is in the database, instead of in each application, and the hard part of appication development is already done. And all of Illustra's DataBlades can be combined to support any combination of Multi-Media and complex data.
