SIR is an application development system with a relational database, powerful fourth generation language, report writers, cross tabulation facilities, interfaces to other statistical software, screen management, data entry and SQL.
SIR is primarily used in analytical applications particularly human health studies (including clinical trials), traffic accident statistics, natural resource management (water quality, forestry, fisheries), animal disease control, surveys and general research.
Typical customers are government and semi-government organizations involved in these ares. The product runs on a range of machines including PCs, UNIX, VAX and IBM mainframes. Applications are completely portable between machines.
