High Performance Parallel Interface (HIPPI) Board for VMEbus

The High Performance Parallel Interface (HIPPI) is an established ANSI standard that has been adopted by supercomputer, workstation, and peripheral manufacturers as the high-performance interface of choice. CHI Systems' HIPPI-VME(6U) interface provides a high-speed data path between the HIPPI channel and the VMEbus. The HIPPI-VME (6U) interface connects a VMEbus-based workstation to any other HIPPI-connected device, such as a disk array, frame buffer or HIPPI switch.

CHI Systems offers both raw character drivers and TCP/IP networking drivers for IRIX 4.x/5.x. The raw character driver is accessed via standard UNIX system calls and allows the user's application direct control of the data transfers. This driver also supports the HIPPI Framing Protocol (FP) mode. The networking driver allows user configuration of the HIPPI-VME (6U) into the system to take advantage of existing TCP/IP-based applications.
