Cameleon is a sophisticated multiple protein sequence alignment system. Cameleon is aimed at molecular biologists and molecular modelers who wish to identify protein structure information implicit in a protein sequence alignment. Users can read in large numbers of sequences, and align them using an advanced alignment algorithm. The alignment algorithm in Cameleon is cluster-based which has many advantages over traditional pairwise methods.
Sequences can be color-coded to reflect any physiochemical property. All display windows communicate in Cameleon, enabling users to refine and validate alignments in terms of structural data.
